Every September/October I like to do 3-5 spooky or supernatural themed books, but I like to diversify the selections. I need a non-fiction, a classic or good literature, and something newer, fun, or just extra dark.
An example of my list last year:
Non-fiction – The Butchering Art
Classic – Dracula
Literature – Perfume
Stephen King – Billy Summers (ended up not being that dark but slowly trying to work through his collection)

Classic – *Wuthering Heights* by Emily Bronte, Nonfiction – *The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer* by Philip Carlo, Fun – *Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery* by Deborah Howe and James Howe.
Have you read any of Ann Rice’s vampire books?
Something new, unique, and damn good is Black River Orchard, by Chuck Wendig. For a somewhat older and less well-known (but incredibly fun) read, try Summer of Night by Dan Simmons. Last, for a dark, slow burn, Ronald Malfi has some good ones. Small Town Horror in particular got to me. For a short classic, Arthur Machen’s The Great God Pan. Machen had a substantial influence on many classic horror authors, including Lovecraft.
Sorry these don’t all completely align with your specifications, but they’re definitely all worth checking out.
Im not sure i understand the difference between classic and literature, but you can look into E.T.A. Hoffman, Algis Budrys, The Monk by Lewis.
For “fun” I suggest Frances Hardinge, e.g Deeplight.
Also, absolutely look into Emancipator trilogy by Ray Aldridge. It’s science fiction with themes of body horror and mental manipulation.
The Haunting Of Hill House. Devil In The White City.
