Is there any book out there that is akin to Interview with the Vampire? My best friend has been trying to look for one that is close in genre and subject. Every time she has deemed people's suggestions as too fan fiction-esque and wants more horror involved as well as good poetic writing.

Try Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff. It is the first one in a trilogy. It is a chunky book but so worth the investment in time. One of my favourite books of last year. If you/they like audio that is also brilliant too.
