My Little Free Library gave me these first four books of the Shadow Children series by Margaret Haddix.
Are these books any good? I searched this sub and they were discussed quickly about 7 years ago. I enjoy YA every so often.
I was secretly hoping for an all-boys school type story (doesn't have to be all-boys, but I love stories sequestered in massive mansions) and I can't tell if the third book will become that or not.
I'm also trying to not read the backs to keep the whole thing mysterious.
So I'm sort of at an impasse. I have a pile of books to get to before I get to these, and I will donate them back to the LFL. But pretty good find imo considering it's usually politics or psychology weirdness in there lol

read it as a kid, enjoyed it as an adult. it’s not an all-boys school type story though. i say read the first one and see if you want to read about what happens next
Thank you for sharing this! I read these as a kid and somehow conflated them with the “Uglies” series so couldn’t remember this series- it’s been bothering me for years!
