As of the time of this post, I just finished Darcy Coates's "The Carrow Haunt". It took me several chapters to really get into it, but once I did, I got through the novel pretty quickly.
I had a hard time keeping all the characters straight at first, but that was recitified. I found a typo or two, as is par for the course when it comes to Darcy's Coates's writing, but nothing too glaring.
I will say, I didn't much care for the romantic subplot, but it wasn't a huge part of the book, so I can overlook that. I, personally, loved the ending. It almost made me tear up, and it ended much nicer than it seemed it was going to. I also wound up caring more about the characters than I thought I would.
Now to decide between reading her book "Gallows Hill", or "From Below". I started GH a couple weeks ago, but stopped a few chapters in, because I just could not seem to get a grip on the imagery the author was going for. That is very abnormal for me – but I couldn't picture anything as I was reading it. Maybe it was because I switched between books too quickly. We shall see.
"From Below" is a bit intimidating to me, so I've been putting off reading it. Not because of the length, but because of the weird, personal phobia I have regarding manmade structures being enclosed and under water. It's the same reason I could never go on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at Disneyland. LOL. It just makes me feel claustrophobic and freaked out. But heck, maybe that will make the book more immersive and spooky!

All I’m getting from this is that Darcy Coates is another hack to skip.
