What are some unorthodox fantasy books that still deliver the “epic high moments” of classic fantasy

I’m looking for fantasy that doesn’t follow the usual tropes (chosen one, medieval quest, elves vs. orcs, etc.), but still manages to create those powerful, cinematic moments the kind that make you feel the same way classic epic fantasy does when a character rises, falls, or faces a huge turning point. Any recommendations?
