AI and robots have long been a topic in SciFi of course but it occurs to me that usually (or at least form what I've read) Scifi stories tend to arrive at the conclusion that AI/robots are sentient, deserve rights, are basically like humans etc. and it's about freeing them or giving them rights.
I wonder if there are stories out there that arrive explicitly at the opposite conclusion, meaning that AI/robots are NOT on the same level as humans, and lack the human essence and therefore the work has a critical attitude towards them. I don't so much mean books where there's just a random race of evil robots that need to be shot up or something, it should explicitly look at these philosophical questions.
The only thing I can think of in that direction is 'Do Androids dream of electric sheep' but I'm sure there's more?
