For some context – I've just graduated uni, and as I look for jobs, I've been wrestling with the feelings of not knowing who I am or what I like or what I want anymore. Everyone around me is very ambitious and high-achieving, and so I've been following the next step that's been laid out by others up until now, but I've reached a point where I feel lost. Not just because I don't know what I want to do, but also because I feel a lot of anxiety, comparison, and perceived failure for not living up to the standards I'd set for myself.
I tend to ruminate and introspect a lot, but I've discovered that reading always gives me the hope and perspective I can't seem to muster from within. And it's always from the unlikeliest books too! Some authors I quite like who've scratched the itch are Emily R Austin and Fredrik Backman, but I want to try something completely new.
I typically go for fiction, but I'd love to explore some non-fiction too (just not self-help, or anything too traumatic/extreme).
Thank you so much in advance for your suggestions! I'm really looking forward to finding some brand new recs for the TBR 🙂
