Recently read Blood Meridian. It was a challenging read, not just because of its violence and unfiltered nihilism but the dense and almost biblical prose. But I loved it and consider it a masterpiece, one of the greatest books ever written. I would love it if people could suggest similar books – ones that deconstruct the myths of the American West, reveal some not so pleasant truths about human nature, involve a frontier landscape, morally ambiguous characters and so on. I've read other McCarthy books so if you could recommend something outside McCarthy, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!
