Hi! I've been on a villain kick when it comes to reading fanfiction and want to read more published books with this trope. It doesn't matter if the main character is a villain as well or on the hero side (or a neutral bystander). Spicy or not doesn't matter, neither does YA or Adult. Neither does gender (I am queer myself and read everything)
My only big nope is that a lot of dark romances tend to have kinks and other scenes that I find triggering (I have nothing against people reading it, no worries, but I personally just can't) so preferably avoiding any type of abuse or kinks relating to pain or restrictions. No bullying either (though banter? That's definitely appreciated)
Some books that I have already read are the Touch of Darkness series and Curse of the Thorn King. (The fanfics I've been reading are Disney villains so, uh… Yeah, retellings with existing villains are welcome 🫣😂)
Whether the villain turns good in the end, the hero turns bad in the end, all doesn't really matter, as long as they end up together!
I mostly prefer traditionally published books because they are more accessible and affordable outside of the US, but if it's accessible/affordable for me, I will 100% give indie published books a try. (Sometimes Storytel or Nextory also has indie audiobooks, so I'll definitely take a look on there)
I have no preferences with amount of POVs or if something is first or third person.
Hopefully this is enough (or not too much) info. I'm still pretty much a newbie on Reddit so I hope this was fine.

So I haven’t read them yet but they are on my stack. The Assistant to the Villain series i think is supposed to be this.
Maybe look into Annika Martin’s *Return Billionaire to Sender.* Don’t be put off by the cheesy title! Romcom, with a villain male main character and a female main character. It’s fun if you’re okay with contemporaries. I don’t THINK it has bullying…is my memory.
