This is quite subjective so bear with me: I prefer books with less (or even no) magic, in favour of the world building shown feeling in-depth, rational and real. I enjoy likeable characters that work together – in recent books I've read, they all seem evil, tragic, brooding, or standoffish (though these ccan be okay in moderation). I'm just looking for a fairly easy, immersive (preferably YA) read that will get me invested in the plot and characters. For example, I really like Frances Hardinge and Leigh Bardugo books. Thanks in advance!
