This is probably very niche because I don't know how much of a south asian community exists here but I NEED a book that is soul wrenching in the same way 2007-16 prime era movies were.
Think jab we met, wake up sid, sanam teri kasam, ajab prem ki gazab kahani, think sunday morning coffee with 9xm playing iktara,tu jane na,subhanallah, bahara, tum se hi.
I don't know if i am making any sense but if I am,I want that same feeling poured into a book,I want to bawl my eyes out.

Please reddit gods let me find atleast one person who knows what i mean with the suggestions to match 😭😭😭

ETA: Think penelope and colin, the yearning in the first two seasons(before they ruined it in season 3),the pain and the agony of the "please kiss me" scene [bridgerton]

    1. You might check out Sonali Dev’s Rajes books, which are big Bollywood, contemporary re-imaginings of Jane Austen’s novels. Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors is the first, though I read them out of order and didn’t feel particularly lost.

    2. The Bad Muslim Discount by Syed Masood could be worth a look. I’m not familiar with the movies you listed, but the tone of the preview to Wake up Sid reminded me of the book! Anyways, I love this read; the author is Pakistani and it’s set in the desi community of San Francisco, CA. Tons of drama, loss, heartache, love, and humor.
