I just saw the 50th anniversary of Jaws in theaters. I feel like the movie really outshines the book. Are there any other book adaptations that you feel are better as movies?

Jaws is one of my absolute favorite movies. While I’ve read the original book; I can’t help feel the movie adaptation is a lot better. I liked that Spielberg removed the boring plot of Ellen’s affair with Hooper; and adding in the scene where Quint describes surviving the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.

I’m wondering if anyone else feels that there are certain movie adaptations that outshine their source material.
