Like everyone else, ACOTAR recently got me back into reading. I used to devour books as a kid, but at some point I stopped reading as much.
But I read all of SJM’s work last year, and I absolutely love them. They really got me back into reading.
I read Fourth Wing, and I liked it a lot.
I read Quicksilver and tbh I did not enjoy it.
Then I read Priory of the Orange Tree and oh my god I literally love that book with my whole heart!! 10/10 for me, but I think I’m wanting something a little less “high” fantasy next.. but better than Quicksilver. I care a lot about the character design and development. Quicksilver really lacked that for me.
I think what I’m looking for is children’s fantasy, but I still want it to make me think, you know? I need Harry Potterish, children’s level fantasy lol.
I started Red Rising because my mom recommended it, and I do like it.. but it’s not hitting the spot for some reason. I’m on chapter 15 but I think I need to put it to the side. I can’t put my finger on what’s throwing me off.. the sci-fi or the very masculine tone maybe? I don’t know.
My all time favorite book from when I was a kid was Fire by Kristin Cashore. I loved Bitterblue and Graceling too. But Fire was my favorite, I read that book so many times. I also really loved

Children of the Lamp.
Those books were my friends, who saved me from my darkest days when I needed them 💖 I really want something similar to Fire. I keep thinking about that one a lot lately.
I know some people are gonna be like, why would you want to read young adult/ children’s fantasy… but I am an adult who loves kids movies and shows too 😭 SheRa and the princesses of power, Avatar the last airbender, HTTYD, Steven universe, and Adventure time are some I can name off the top of my head. I’m also a big anime watcher. I love kpop demon hunters right now!!!! I need that stuff in book form.
So any suggestions? Books that are magical and fun, but not ~too~ difficult to read, and very character driven?? 💖💖
