Hello! My sister’s 18th birthday is coming up and I know I want to get her some books but I can’t find anything perfect. I know she loves autumn so definitely something to do with autumn or even Halloween. She doesn’t like anything to do with the supernatural though so nothing like that. Also not a fan of romance or fantasy but it isn’t a deal breaker.

She’s mentioned that she wants more positive books that aren’t sad while also being quite emotional? Like the characters can go through sad stuff but it’s kind of a glass half full sort of situation. Just something that feels warm as she’s sick of anything gloomy and cold since we live in aus so it’s just been winter. I also believe she’s not a fan of the “cozy” books as she finds them boring, so not that type of warm if ykwim. She’s very picky so it’s very hard to find books but I do want to surprise her.

So basically just warm autumn inspired, non-supernatural, and positive!

I can’t remember what time of year it takes place but Anxious People by Fredrik Bachman has very bittersweet, connection through sadness themes.
