Fiction and non fiction welcome, for any career. I am at career crossroads, many of them, and also how to live life – and would like to read not necessarily just to get insight on some careers but the lives around them. Even if they are fictional – someone had to understand and live through these moments to write them. A book that may have a character doing a certain job, the book not being about the job but we get to see them do it. Memoirs are fine.
If you have a non fiction literal "my life as a ____" rec that's welcome too. As an aside my areas of interest rn are: psychology, engineering, med, nursing. 3 of those careers I'm interested in because I would be more involved with the vulnerable side of the human experience – I find the human experience the most interesting to read about. Mundane, intimate, vulnerable moments, stuff like that – and that's why I'd like to read on them.

Most Michael Crichton books do this. He often brings several people from different fields together and they have to work together to achieve some goal. Does a decent job explaining their duties/skills/environment for work as well. They also die a lot so I’m not sure how you feel about that lol.
A thousand naked strangers by Kevin hazard written about his time in urban EMS as a paramedic in Atalanta. Read it both before and after working in EMS and highly entertaining and very realistic look at EMS
I really enjoyed Jenna Fischers book about becoming an actor! Super interesting.
Stephen King is a big believer in fascinating audiences by describing a day job. Basically all his books do it well, even the ones that follow children or non-existent societies.
They are getting old now, but the Dick Francis books are usually based around an ex jumps jockey, who is now a [insert career]. Learnt lots about many careers, from owning a truck company, jeweller, glass blower, photographer, movie director, builder, private detective etc etc.
Horse Heaven by Jane Smiley focuses on breeders, owners, trainers, and vets on the thoroughbred racing circuit in the US. It’s a fascinating book.
