I'm not necessarily talking about which one is the most scary (although obviously that's a big part of a horror book), but about which one you think has the best writing. Which one makes you reallly feel the atmosphere, which one makes you feell what the characters feel, which one makes you stay up until 3am reading

The Road – Cormac McCarthy 2006
**House of Leaves** by Mark Danielewski. Published in 2000, so there are some who say the 21st century doesn’t start until 2001, but… i’m sticking with HoL.
