I’ve read a lot of Sanderson lately, I love his work I just a little breath of fresh air. I would really love to hear what recommendations the Reddit community has. No need to recommend any Robert Jordan, Tolkien, or Modesitt, been there thank you!
P.S. I prefer fantasy, but I enjoy Sci-Fi too.

Have you read Piranesi? It’s fantasy, which is not my norm, but I really enjoyed it. Like a two sitting book enjoyed it….
Brent Weeks has a very similar style;
Jim Butcher’s Furies of Calderon series might get you close too.
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin is classic, and has had a big influence on the fantasy genre in general, I see a lot of similarities to Brandon’s style.
Try the Lies of Locke Lamora (fantasy meets ocean 11). It’s not different enough from Sanderson that it should be a good palette cleaner. It’s still a well written fantasy, with good characters and beautifully written friendships.
The lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch (part one of a trilogy thus far) is a fun read and much grittier than Sanderson. It’s a dark, humorous fantasy and has good world building.
The audacity series by Carmen Loup has a similar fast pace and characters with some life and humor to them! The prose is a bit more involved, so it should be a good change. It’s scifi!
