I'm looking for book recommendations for something similar to Necroscope. It's for a gift. What they like about the book is:
- The body horror/sci-fi blend
- Complexity of the language
- Smut was not all sexy
I haven't read the book myself (hyper-focused on DCC) so I'm unsure what would be a good book that has at least 2 of 3 here. Length of the book is a non issue!

Hmm. Here are a few that might work…
Fevre Dream by George Martin
Salem’s Lot by Stephen King
The Passage Justin Cronin
The Keep by F. Paul Wilson
John Dies At The End by David Wong and its sequel This Book Is Full Of Spiders.
In case you or the person who read it was not aware – there are many more books to that series, Necroscope is book #1. The 2nd book is Necroscope II: Vamphyri!. If they read book 1, they will definitely enjoy #2, 3, 4, 5…
Maybe The Locked Tom Series, starting with Gideon the Ninth?
Lesbian necromancers in space (there is one house that communicates with the dead in a way similar to the book you initially describe but otherwise they are necromancers). Sensual things but nothing sexy.
