I’m not a huge fantasy fan but trying to broaden my horizons. I tried ACOTAR it wasn’t for me. But really enjoyed Lightlark (at least the first book) and recently finished and really enjoyed Metal Slinger. I don’t love a full book of world building, I need something that picks up pace and action pretty quickly. Was considering Caraval, Cruel Prince, or Fourth Wing, thoughts? Any recommendations?
Edit to add: I guess Romantasy vs fantasy but it can be more of a sub plot versus part of the greater genre if that makes sense!

Dungeon Crawler Carl
The action starts in the first chapter of Vengeance and Honour by Ben Dixon and barely lets up. There was magic and humour along the adventure with really enjoyable characters.
Are you looking strictly for romantasy? Because you should specify as every book you used as an example definitely falls more under that category than the general fantasy genre as a whole. If you are looking to branch out from romantasy I have some good recs. Let me know!
Iron Druid, Mistborn or Dungeon Crawler Carl.
Have you tried the Throne of Glass series?
I recently read Fourth Wing and kept turning the pages, but I’m not sure I’ll keep reading the series. On the other hand, it sure did end with a major surprise.
David Weber, War God series. Fast fun warrior and sorcery series . No serious themes just adventure and glory
