Hi guys, christmas is coming and im looking forward to buy a cool book to my friend. He is a forestry science student and he is a pretty weird fella.

He told me about the absurd story behind the book The Golden Spruce and I would like to find a similiar book (about trees) that will blow his mind, or just makes him happy. I have already plumbed the depths of this subreddit, and I found a list of titles but none of them seems to have the weird twitst I’m looking for.

    Do you have any suggestions?

Have you tried “The man who made things out of trees” by Robert Penn?

Basically he chopped down a single Ash tree and tried to make as many different things from it as possible, meeting a series of specialist carpenters along the way. It’s an interesting book and a tribute to the quality and uses of Ash wood.
