I associate life milestones with what I was reading at the time and I’m getting married in a week on September 27! I’m looking for a 5-star read to dive into on my flight tomorrow. Some of my all time favorite books include The Goldfinch, The Secret History, State of Wonder, Project Hail Mary, The Will of the Many, The Women, and the Throne of Glass series.

Barbara Kingsolver does not miss—Try The Lacuna set in Mexico City during the time of Frieda Kahlo.
And congrats! my wife read Gone Girl on our honeymoon—13 years later and she’s my best partner in crime (and everything else!).
I don’t know if it fits your bill at all, but I finished the Song of Achilles recently and it’s just a fantastic love story
If you liked Project Hail Mary, the Martian by Weir is a great read as well. Also the og Jurassic Park by Crichton is an all time favourite read for me and his writing is similar to Weir’s.
If you haven’t yet, you also need to check out Red Rising. Amazing series. Sci-fi/fantasy, epic, world building, and iconic. The Will of the Many was one of my favourite reads from the past few years and it reminded me of Red Rising.
The bobiverse! also a large project haul Mary fan and the Bobiverse is incredible. So funny but good space plot too.
Or Old Man’s War for something else in a similar vein.
