Suggest me a book like Stoner, Never Let Me Go, Klara & the Sun, that goes deeper into someone’s thinking / psyche

It could be an MC who is heartbroken, continues to go through life not fully given up and wants to hope for more but has been disappointed too many times perhaps? I want to connect with a realistic MC like Stoner, feel their disappointment, sadness or internal rebellion at times perhaps.

MC can continue to believe in or hope for better things.

I would like it if there is still a story and not just internal dialogue. Thanks!
