With the heaviness of the world, I am focusing more on reading and less on social media. I find my greatest escapes tend to be very long, historical fiction sagas. Ideally trilogies or longer series. I read a 600 page book in about 3 days on average . I love the Outlander Universe, Ken Follets historical fiction series and am currently 3/5 of the way through Deborah Harkness’ All souls series. A hint of fantasy, supernatural, time travel is great, but also more realistic historical fiction works for me. I just want to be transported to times and places far away. I have also enjoyed Phillipa Gregory, but probably to a lesser degree. Any recommendations are appreciated.

    1. Caveat: neither are series.

Stephen King’s **11/22/63** A man goes back in time in an attempt to prevent the assassination of JFK.

Michael Crichton’s **Timeline** has a group of grad students go back to 14th century France to investigate a mystery while another group stays in the present to assist/protect them. Much of the story is set in the past, depicting the brutality of life back then.

    2. Series:

      Wolf Hall Trilogy

Mayfair Witches (check out some of her other series/trilogies too)

      Asian Saga

Lonesome Dove (4 books total, read in published order)

      The Warrior Chronicles

      Bloodsworn Trilogy

A Song of Ice and Fire

      Earth’s Children

Absolutely agree with the Baroque Cycle books!!

      Strongly recommend these stand-alones:

      Count of Monte Cristo

      Les Miserables

      Gone with the Wind

      The Thorn Birds
