Hi friends! I’m looking for a new audiobook to listen to, but would love recs for actual books as well, so let me know if the audio doesn’t do the book justice!

I love fun and whimsical stories, I don’t like sad and heavy topics or serious dramas, and my dad recently died of cancer so I like to avoid things that will make me think too much about that. I’m into a lot of genres, humor, magical realism, historical fiction (even better when the two combine), fantasy or sci-fi, etc. I love a mystery if it’s not too gruesome.

Some of the books I’ve read or listened to so far this year are The Cemetery of Forgotten Books series (which deals with heavier stuff than what I usually like, but these books are just too spectacular I’ve reread them several times), the Thursday Murder Club series, Remarkably Bright Creatures, Everyone in My Family has Killed Someone, The Art Thief, and This Is How You Lose the Time War, to name a few.

I just finished Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell which I thoroughly enjoyed. A thing that happens to me often after I finish a good book—especially a long one—is that I want to just restart from the beginning to keep living in that world a while longer. But I don’t actually want to do that now bc that audiobook is 32 hours long, so please suggest me a book!!

    Thank you in advance🙏
