Hello! I am looking for something that is so common but also kind of specific, hopefully you guys can help.
I want to read a fantasy or sci-fi book where a character joins or is enlisted into an academy as the "beginning point" of their journey, and then that journey quickly spirals out into them having greater importance in the world around them, a greater conflict, etc. Harry Potter I suppose would be a weak comparison, but maybe something even more like Iron Widow or the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik? Huge bonuses would be some sociopolitical commentary, intricate worldbuilding, and having a traditional hero's arc structure where the academy would be the beginning of their journey.
