I recently watched A Silent Voice and was blown away by how amazing it was, with it inspiring me to begin writing my own fantasy novel with a deaf protagonist. However, whilst looking for inspiration, I soon realised that don't think I could name a single book with a deaf character, so I'm looking for fiction novels that feature deaf characters and have good deaf representation.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    1. Will Dean has written a crime/mystery series featuring the deaf protagonist Tuva Moodyson, a reporter on a local newspaper in Sweden. The first book is called Dark Pines and it is excellent. Will himself isn’t deaf, but you can tell he’s taken a lot of care to portray Tuva’s deafness in an appropriate, sensitive and authentic way, and aside from enjoying these books as crime/mystery novels, I also feel like I’ve learnt a lot from them about the day-to-day experience of living life as a deaf person.
