For a reading challenge I have to read a book set in the 1940s this is way outside of my comfort zone because I dont normally read historical fiction. I love thriller books but also Dungeon Crawler Carl has me in a choke hold right now. I’m also joyfully reading Heretical Fishing. With an occasional sprinkle of things like ACOTAR just for flavor give me your best suggestions please and thank you.

Just clarifying, the year 1940 specifically or the decade of the 1940s?
I’ll give you a book that takes TWO books to count! My favorite John Steinbeck book is Cannery Row but it is set in the ’30’s so it doesn’t count…..BUT….the sequel, Sweet Thursday is a reunion of the main characters after they return from WWII. Both books are quite short (less than 200 pages each) so I would say that together they count as one! Bums and whores and frogs – what’s not to like!!
