So I’m not talking about noir style (nor what passes as crime fiction mostly these days), but ones that allow the protagonist to have a support network (or have several people working together).
Series that I’ve read and loved…
Lindsey Davis – both the Falco and Albia series
Ellis Peters – the Brother Cadfael series
Richard Osman – Thursday Murder Club series.
I love the humor/sarcasm in these books, but also the sense of community that they build around the main character.
But my to be read pile is shrinking, and would love some suggestions I could put on my Christmas wishlist.

Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson
Are you willing to get a little silly with it? Guards! Guards! by Sir Terry Pratchett (and the subsequent Ankh-Morpork City Watch books) hits hard on the humor, sarcasm, and community in a really fantastic detective story.
