Not going out in a limb here, but I thought Demon Copperhead was incredible and worth “5 stars.” Maybe not the last book I rated that high but holy shit, I just found it to be an amazing read.
Brotherless Night. I just finished it this weekend. Phenomenal book.

Just finished my most recent five star read today. I highly recommend going into it blind (don’t even read the blurb) but the basic premise is it’s about a family of five where the sister is sent away and the son runs away a few years later:

I know it’s not new but I just finished We Need To Talk About Kevin and I cannot stop thinking about it. I’ve accosted every friend and acquaintance I’ve had, hoping for a conversation. I read a lot and I can’t remember the last time a book made me feel that way.
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. It’s a middle reader book that I read with my 9 year old and it’s excellent. If you like historical fiction I highly recommend it.
Radiance by Catherynne M. Valente was my last 5 star technically. Definitely not for everyone. It was also a reread.
