Please spill I wanna read smth really awesome. Also desperate. So desperate—I just want randomized recommendations cause my reading is very genre specific and I inevitably ask for recs from said specific genres. So gimme!!

For me it was 84, Charing Cross Road by the way 🙂

    1. Cold, cold ground by Adrian McKintock.  Detective novel set in Ireland in time of troubles.

Not going out in a limb here, but I thought Demon Copperhead was incredible and worth “5 stars.” Maybe not the last book I rated that high but holy shit, I just found it to be an amazing read.

    3. Poor Deer by Claire Oshetsky. So good, really stuck with me. Beautiful, sharp, weird, and tender.

The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw was the most recent, but The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson might change that.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

It’s on the shorter side. It follows the life and death of a ride mechanic named Eddie, who is killed in an amusement park accident and sent to heaven, where he encounters five people who had a significant impact on him while he was alive. It was on the New York Times Best Seller list for 95 weeks.

    8. The Red Tent

A story that makes all your senses come alive and a tender beautiful story about the multigenerational connection between women in biblical times.

Just finished my most recent five star read today. I highly recommend going into it blind (don’t even read the blurb) but the basic premise is it’s about a family of five where the sister is sent away and the son runs away a few years later:

We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler

    10. I know it’s not new but I just finished We Need To Talk About Kevin and I cannot stop thinking about it. I’ve accosted every friend and acquaintance I’ve had, hoping for a conversation. I read a lot and I can’t remember the last time a book made me feel that way.

    11. Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. It’s a middle reader book that I read with my 9 year old and it’s excellent. If you like historical fiction I highly recommend it.

    12. Radiance by Catherynne M. Valente was my last 5 star technically. Definitely not for everyone. It was also a reread.

Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen by Jose Antonio Vargas for Non-Fiction.

Not new, but just finished 11/22/63 and it was incredible! Wish I could go back and read it for the first time again
