My boss just announced that she will retire very soon and I'd love to gift her a book. She was a palliative nurse for a long time, currently a widow but also a grandma full time! Any book suggestions on healthcare, palliative care, family or life stories, etc would be greatly appreciated!

When Breath Becomes Air (Paul Kalathini). It’s heavy, but very good. It’s memoir from a doctor dealing with terminal lung cancer.
Covenant of Water checks all the boxes. It’s a beautifully written family saga with real medical drama as the author is a doctor.
If she likes mystery books perhaps The Patient in Room 18 by Mignon Eberhart.
It’s a classic mystery witten in 1929 and the main protagonist is a nurse.
