Hi everyone,
I'm attempting to complete StoryGraph's 2025 genre challenge, but I'm missing a book for the "Queer Horror" category. Could anyone recommend me something they enjoyed? Unfortunately I'm kind of a baby when it comes to horror, so if any recommendations are on the less terrifying side I would appreciate it.
Some authors I like are Ruth Ozeki, Paul Murray, and Tobias Wolff, but I'm open to anything. I really want to expand my horizons, and that's why I'm doing the challenge 🙂 Thank you!

are you looks for a book written by a queer author or a book featuring queer characters? for the latter, carmilla by sheridan le fanu is a great choice, not too scary but very atmospheric
Try Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V. E. Schwab! It’s a queer horror novel which follows three women’s stories across different time periods. It’s not particularly scary, more atmospheric. It isn’t perfect, but I found it very gripping.
I also recommend Get In Trouble by Kelly Link – its a queer horror short story collection, so easy to power through if you need to hit the quota! It’s also very funny.
Camp Damascus by Chuck Tingle. Definitely queer, horror but had some laugh out loud moments for me.
1. Chuck Tingle – Bury Your Gays
2. Where I End – Sophie White
I didn’t love “we used to live here” but other people seem to like it a lot! A queer female couple moves into an eerie house and the former tenants come knocking at the door in a snowstorm…
A lot of Kirsty Logan’s books and short stories would fit the category – and everything she writes is worth picking up. She’s brilliant at wielding language and myth and pop culture and then creating genuine unease. She’s great.
Maybe try You’re Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron. I don’t know how scary it gets because I DNFed it (was not in the mood for YA) but it’s a slasher so you’ll know what you’re in for at least.
