I’m looking for a book I can read with my book club, so not something too new or too long. I’m looking for something weird or creepy.. unhinged but not horror.
Something like:
– bunny by Mona Awad
– Earthlings by Sakaya murata
– we rude upon sticks by quan Barry
– the honeys by Ryan La Sala
– how high we go in the dark by sequoia nagamatsu
What genre would you call these books?

I read “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson for a book club and it prompted a great discussion. Definitely fits the “weird or creepy but not horror” criteria.
I’d say those could be classified as transgressive fiction.
And I’d recommend Geek Love by Katherine Dunn.
