Ive been getting more into reading recently and have been enjoying The Gulag Archipelogo and meditations but am unsure what other books I should read. I enjoy history, politics, religion/ theology and philosophy but am still open to fiction/non fiction stories.

    Thanks in advance!

You could try Umberto Eco, especially The Name of the Rose and Baudolino. Both are historical fiction set in Medieval Europe, where mystery, philosophy, and religion are deeply intertwined.

Another one I often reread is Creation by Gore Vidal. It takes place in the ancient world, spanning from Persia to Greece and China, covering the court of Emperor Darius and the early years of Zoroastrianism.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Joke, both by Milan Kundera, explore life in communist Czechoslovakia.

      Hope you like those suggestions.
