I am not talking about falling asleep on a couce at late night while reading.
I am talking more about falling asleep while reading even if you are completely refreshed and story is interesting af. I wake up, full and well rested, and think I am going to sleep for a bit in bed. 10 minutes later, I am asleep. I wake up an hour later, try reading again, and fall asleep again. No matter what time of the day it is, or how well I am rested, I fall asleep in 10 minutes of reading.
It's not that the book is not interesting or I am not interested in reading. But this happens.
Anyone in the same boat (reading Moby Dick rn so had to use the word "boat")?

That only happens if I’m already tired.
The opposite happens for me. If I’m sleepy, I’ll open a book and perk right up.
Only for audiobooks
Could be that you need glasses
Yeah, this happens to me. I can’t read lying down.
Yes but I don’t even fall asleep. The act of reading in bed or on a couch will make me feel like I’m crashing but the moment I stop and actually try to sleep it doesn’t transfer. Often if I’m crashing trying to sleep something and decide to just give in, then look at my phone ‘just to check my messages real quick’ I can go from fighting to keep my eyes open with the book to wide awake for hours just mindlessly scrolling. It’s very frustrating.
I basically have to read all books on audiobooks while I do chores or exercise otherwise I won’t get anywhere
This happens to me all the time and it really prevents me from enjoying reading as much as I wish I did. My best bet is audiobooks while I’m driving.
What you described is exactly what I experience.
Always worth getting a sleep study to make sure nothing serious is going on. There are cheap at home sleep studies available.
Yeah, it happens. Sometimes you just have stop and step away for an hour.
I start yawning like crazy as soon as I start reading it is extremely annoying
Only if the book is really boring.
I think it has something to do with how the brain calms down when focusing on a single train of thought, quieting the mental chatter. It’s like counting sheep to get sleepy.
Yes this happens to me too!
I now read sitting up and avoid beds, fluffy couches etc lol
