The Gunslinger by Stephen King: if I disliked “ponderous journey” type stories such as The Book of the New Sun, Piranesi, This Is How You Lose The Time War, The Left Hand of Darkness – will I dislike the Dark Tower series?

I’ve just started reading The Gunslinger and it struck me that it’s kind of reminiscent of the books I’ve listed in the title

I didn’t really enjoy the long bouts of wandering/following/chasing an unseen thing that features in those books, where the journey is more the focus and the protagonist learns about themselves as they progress.

So I was wondering whether The Gunslinger is similar in that sense? I know I should just keep reading to find out, but I’m curious to hear everyone’s takes! 🙂
