Only murder mystery books I've read are 'One of us is lying', 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd' and 'The Devotion of suspect x' none of them met my expectations. (Roger Ackroyd was nonetheless pretty good because of the twist, but it wasn't what I was looking for) Because they felt too light hearted to me. Idk how to put this. Dark things happen in those books, but they don't feel dark. The reactions of the characters didn't feel right or maybe it was just the prose. So suggest me some murder mystery books that actually have a serious tone.
Also, if the book happens to have good prose, that's a plus.
