Can't seem to find anything I want to read lately. Everything seems to be too fantastical or dreamy or unrealistic. Please recommend me a book with the following characteristics:
- Contemporary (1970-present day).
- Fiction or based on true events.
- Realistic characters dealing with human feelings, issues, relationships.
- Internal monologue, deep character development, empathy, introspection.
- No war, no political stuff, no aliens, no robots, no occurrences that are too convenient for plot, no fantastical creatures, no magic. Just real-world stuff.
- Bonus if touches on any of the following: love/relationships, mental health, depression, anxiety, creativity, sport, strength, morals.
I don't read much at all but want to change that. The problem is that I can't seem to find anything worth the time investment.
Loved: Infinite Jest, The Pale King, Endurance, Le Dernier Ete en Ville
Disliked: 2666, Convenience Store Woman, Perfection
Thanks!
