Hi everyone, I'm looking for a novel that's set in a rural area, as I just spent a few weeks volunteering on a farm and now that I'm back to "normal" life, I'm missing it quite a bit. I realized I haven't read many novels with this setting so am looking for some suggestions. Thanks!

The James Herriot books are the lightly fictionalised memoirs of a rural vet, right on the cusp of the transition away from horses for heavy farm work – he’s treating everything from kittens to Clydesdales.
He spends a LOT of his time in the open, given his job…and he really does grow to love the Yorkshire Dales
During the Reign of the Queen of Persia
So Long, See You Tomorrow (ish)
A Thousand Acres – Jane Smiley
O’Pioneers and other books by Willa Cather
Annie Proulx: Postcards; The Wyoming stories, Heart Songs, That old ace in the hole
Anne Of Green Gables
Larkrise To Candleford
Ann patchett – tom lake
Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall
Tess of the d’Ubervilles by Thomas Hardy. It’s a classic book, but still worth of a read.
