There can be fantasy elements (like Eowyn Ivey) & it could take place in the distant past (like Vaster Wilds). I like any hurricane narrative like Salvage the Bones or Their Eyes Were Watching God.
The Bear by Andrew Krivak is going to become one of your all time favorite books.

Surfacing by Margaret Atwood is literally the perfect book for what you’re looking for! The setup is this woman goes to her family’s cabin in the Quebec woods with her sort-of-boyfriend and two awful friends to find her missing dad. But the search for her dad quickly becomes secondary. It’s more about her being stuck with these people and in this place that just gets under her skin. And the whole trip starts to feel like a trigger for her to completely deconstruct her own life.
