I just finished reading The Magicians series by Lev Grossman, which I liked and got me in a fantasy mood! But now I’m looking for something a little more straightforward, with more likable characters, and a bit more of a cozy feel (but not too cozy that the stakes feel non-existent, you know?).
Not a comprehensive list, but some of my most-liked books that I’m looking for the vibes of:
-Circe by Madeline Miller
-The Golden Compass
-Savvy by Ingrid Law
-Persuasion by Jane Austen
-A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
-Lessons in Chemistry
-Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell
-The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
I’ve been thinking about reading the Tainted Cup, but the wait at my library is soooo long so I’m looking for alternatives while I wait (unless everyone thinks I should read this one enough for me to go buy the book, in which case I will just suck it up and buy the book).
Open to any age-range recommendations! There’s been some really excellent middle grade in recent years!
Thanks in advance!!
