Hi there! I’ll be visiting Hong Kong and the South of China, and potentially Beijing (itinerary still not final) for the first time in December. I wasn’t particularly interested in China until meeting my husband, who used to live in Zhuhai, a few years ago. Since then I’ve read a few good books about China that made me gradually more interested in it. I read all of Peter Hessler’s China books, “Factory Girls” by Leslie T. Chang, and “The Beautiful Country and the Middle Kingdom” by John Pomfret.
So here I am, asking for recommendations. I prefer non-fiction but I would also do fiction as long as it’s a page turner 🙂 I just want books that will give me a better perspective of the country and will make my visit more informed and enjoyable.
