I'm interested in finding a book to read that has very interestingly written prose. Be it flowery or overly descriptive or poetic or filled with metaphor or generally beautiful, etc etc.
I'm particularly interested in dark, low fantasy, folk horror, and cosmic horror/the occult in the style of "Negative Space" by B.R Yeager, as it's not as direct of an impact on the populace. It's a bit more subtle; tugging at the edges and pulling threads until something falls to pieces, rather than just making people insane outright.
My favourite piece of media is probably an audio drama called "I Am In Eskew", but I'm unsure what to classify that as theme wise. Weird fiction? Surreal horror? I have no idea.
I'm perfectly happy going outside of these ^ themes/genres/what have you,
I still enjoy sci-fi and more typical fantasy, and so-on, but I would still like recommendations with unique and/or interestingly written prose.
Please let me know if your recommendation doesn't fit those specs. I'll probably still give it a look.
No Stephen King please!
Sorry for all my rambling, and thank you for your help!

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
You might like House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski- the prose is wild and experimental, really pulls you into the weirdness. For something dark and subtle, The Loney by Andrew Michael Hurley is bleak but poetic, with that slow-creeping dread vibe. Also, Piranesi by Susanna Clarke has this quiet, dreamlike prose that’s beautiful and a bit unsettling.
try Finnegan’s Wake.
Nice simple read.
Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi
The Passion by Jeanette Winterson
I Am an Executioner by Rajesh Parameswaran
