i’d like to dabble in the romance genre, but i don’t want to waste too much of my time or money.
i typically read from the horror and cozy fantasy genres. i enjoyed the romantic subplots in Mexican Gothic and Legends & Lattes.
some of my preferences:
• nothing TOO trope-y
• i think banter is fun!
• very little or no spice is preferable
• paranormal romance intrigues me
any suggestions are appreciated!

T Kingfisher’s paladin series. Each book has a romance with very different sorts of characters and they’re solving mysteries that are vaguely body horror but the overall vibe is sort of cozy because they’re working in a framework of a religion that is basically social workers, doctors and legal aid.
T. Kingfisher
Nettle & Bone is light on the romance.
If you want more romance focus try the Saint and Steel series which starts with Paladin’s Grace.
You might try the Glimmer Falls series. It’s cozy fantasy. I read The Werewolf’s Guide to Seducing a Vampire.
TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea has a cute slow burn romance.
