i've read a lot of post-appocalypse stories, i've read post-post-appocalypse stories but i've realized i've never really ready any pre-appocalypse stories, whether that be through a meteor strike, some kind of pandemic, an alien invasion, i'm looking for a book that's set like a few months to a few days to an upcoming appocalypse, and showing how characters react and deal with it, any suggestions?

Cabin at the End of the World is a crazy book… Enjoyed it, but also thought, what did I just read?!?!

    2. Hollow Kingdom. It’s about a zombie apocalypse, but it’s narrated first person by a Crow witnessing it. The chapters are interspersed with other animal points of view. It’s humorous with some sad parts. I’m not done with it yet, but it’s pretty interesting so far. You have to be okay with coarse language.

I just finished The Age of Miracles.
It’s a young adult book set to the backdrop of the Earth’s rotation starts going a little haywire, and the magnetic field rips.
I didn’t love the ending, but enjoyed the story of the main character trying to navigate crushes and parents and school and friends and the end of the world.
      It felt relatable.

It’s not action. It’s pretty introspective.

The Last Police Man by Ben H Winters – a police officer is investigating murders in the run up to a asteroid hitting the earth.

The Age of Miracle by Karen Thompson Walker – the earths rotation slows and we follow a girl and her family as society begins to change and fall apart.

Circular Motion by Alex Foster – the opposite of age of miracles where the earth rotation speeds up.

The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone – Spider apocalypse. do NOT read if you are arachnophobia

    5. Well Seveneves by Neal Stephenson is the first one that comes to mind. Also Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. And Outland by Dennis E. Taylor.

Also, this gets asked rather frequently so you may be able to find some recent posts with lots of other recs.

    6. **Lucifer’s Hammer** by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle includes scenes before, during, and after the apocalypse.

    7. Chronicles of The One by Nora Roberts. it’s a trilogy. This doom/plague hits the world, wipes out a ton of people. Many of those who remain discover they have magical powers, good vs evil
