I try to read regularly and would call myself an avid reader. I usually average around 25-35 books a year (this year has been pretty good so far, I'm on my 42nd book currently). But I still often feel like I’m not “well read.”
Maybe it’s because the history of literature and books is so vast? I’ll come across an article or a “must-read books” list and realize I’ve barely read 5-10% of them. It's quite humbling to realize I've read such a tiny part of what's out there. Though I guess the bright side is, I won't be running out of books to discover and explore anytime soon 😅
Do you guys ever feel that way too? How/when would you call a person well read?

I generally just take that to mean you aren’t 100% exclusive to one genre or time period. Including “literature.”
Pretty sure it’s reserved for people that have read a lot of the classics. Lord knows I’m not one of them, just saying.
I start to feel good when I can answer questions on Jeopardy. Or when I recommend books to others.
