I realized today I haven’t read a single book written in the 2020s. Every time I try to find something new it feels like I’m sifting through endless smut or algorithm created slop on Amazon/Kindle lol. I’ve mostly been reading 20th century novels and some nonfiction history this past year. But I’d really love to find something more recent.

Are there any authors today who still put serious effort into language, tone, rhythm, or just beautiful writing in general?

Don’t worry about genre, just suggest me your personal favorites from the 2020s!

    1. Written in 2019, so just misses your cutoff but I’m almost through Recursion by Blake Crouch and it is fantastic. Modern suspenseful mind-bending thriller with heavy science themes. Inception meets The Matrix I would say. I can’t put it down! Highly recommend.

      * The Singing Hills Cycle by Nghi Vo
      * The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw
