Just finished the Last Policeman trilogy and Titanium Noir. I'm realizing I really enjoy Noir style fiction – especially the writing style.
You know the sort: (usually/preferably) First person. Short sentences. Even clipped. Competent protagonist. Plot twists. A job that'll land said protagonist in more hot water than expected.
Noir Genre tropes are fine so long as the writing and tone are on point and the characters are compelling. Sub-genre: doesn't matter. Urban or full fantasy is fine. Sci-fi too. Contemporary settings also work. Looking for tone and authenticity over genre.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
