Hi everyone!
I'm going through a massive reading slump right now. I've got a lot going on in my life, and I feel really stressed out with school, health things, and law school applications. A couple years ago I got back into reading and my mental health skyrocketed, and now I just feel like I've plateaued. I think part of this is obviously due to stress, but also because everything I do (schoolwork, classes, my phone, etc) is on a screen. I've looked into TikTok for books to get out of a reading slump and have come up drawing blanks. I was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations for me?
Historically I've enjoyed mostly sci-fi and fantasy, though recently I've found myself getting more into general fiction as well. I'm not a massive romance reader, though I think it can be fun, and mystery/thriller is one that I'm picky with (I don't like a lot of the romanticization of crimes against women lol). For reference (if this helps), some of my favorite books are:
Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar (this is probably one of my top reads of 2025 if not the top)
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang
That's definitely not all, but just some of my favorites that popped out immediately. I'm not opposed to any genres, so please do share your favorites! I really, really want to get back into it.

personally i’d recommend something on the quicker and easier side. that’ll get some momentum going and make it easier to get back into reading as a whole. try metamorphosis by kafka
