I started getting into books recently through Murakami novels like Norwegian Wood, South of the Border, West of the Sun, After Dark, Sputnik Sweetheart, and David Mitchell's number9dream. To be honest, I'm turned off by the idea of the other Murakami novels with a high presence of magical elements, not really my thing. But I really enjoyed what I've read so far from Murakami. I recently read The Remains of the Day and really resonated with the narrator's reflection and journey he describes in his past. Are there any books that anyone could recommend similar to Remains of the Day or the Murakami novels I've read?

Huge fan of Remains of the Day, though I haven’t read any Murakami novels yet. You might like these:
