Hi everyone! I've scoured the internet the last couple of days looking for fantasy novels that are inspired by Asian mythology. I'm trying to broaden my reading range to non-western inspired works. I've been watching a lot of Chinese dramas lately but I am open to any/all parts of Asia.
I love political stories, historical fiction, light fantasy, epic fantasy, and some contemporary. I just have recently discovered the depth of asian cultures and I probably love it a little bit too much and it's my hyperfixation at the moment. I've also been wanting to read non-fiction history books but I don't even know where to start.
Thank you in advance!!

The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo (dont watch the netflix adaptation though because it’s horrible)
A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park is a really good historical fiction children’s novel that takes place in Korea.
Just recommended this on someone else’s post
Bangkok Wakes to Rain by Pitchaya Sudbanthad:
“Bangkok Wakes to Rain (2019) by Pitchaya Sudbanthad is a sweeping, time-bending novel set in Bangkok. It weaves together the lives of many characters—spanning decades and even centuries—whose stories intersect through the city’s shifting landscape of memory, history, and climate change. From a missionary in 19th-century Siam to contemporary musicians, doctors, and exiles, the book captures how love, loss, and longing echo through generations. At its heart, it’s about the resilience of a city constantly remade by water, migration, and human connection.”
